Rivermark Recognised For Excellence in Sustainability

Hesperia’s first master planned community, Rivermark has been recognised by the Urban Development Institute (UDIA) under the national, scientifically based sustainability assessment scheme, EnviroDevelopment.

Rivermark was certified in all six categories of EnviroDevelopment accreditation including water, energy, community, materials, waste and ecosystems. Projects that achieve certification have proven they are leaders in the sector and offer many advantages to buyers for sustainable living.

Rivermark will incorporate a range of design and construction principles, demonstrating Hesperia’s goal to create new benchmarks in sustainable development including a commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions.

Hesperia Director Judd Dyer said Rivermark residents will have access to natural amenity, including established parklands that border the beautiful Swan River, with numerous schools, shops, public transport, hospitals and major road networks within easy reach.

“The EnviroDevelopment program provided an important verification of our sustainability initiatives at Rivermark as it recognizes the future of sustainable development in our industry. We will continue to build upon these initiatives,” Judd said.

“We are implementing comprehensive design guidelines for homes at Rivermark, and have made use of environmentally friendly materials, such as low carbon concrete and recycled road material in the civil and landscape works.”

UDIA WA CEO Tanya Steinbeck recognised Hesperia’s reputation of delivering high quality, innovative and sustainable projects

“Rivermark is a leading example of a project that is proactively addressing sustainability in order to preserve and regenerate a wonderful stretch of our Swan River while also providing a range of benefits to the future local community,” Ms Steinbeck said.

“This is the first masterplanned residential development that Hesperia has delivered to the market here in WA and the first EnviroDevelopment certification for the company, so we are really pleased to have them on board.”

Located in Viveash, just 16 kilometres from the Perth CBD, Rivermark has also been endorsed by Water Corporation as a Gold Waterwise Development, achieving great outcomes in water efficiency and natural storm water management.

Additional plans for Rivermark include maximising tree retention and planting; extensive rehabilitation of natural ecosystems; solar energy systems for dwellings including energy storage; and sustainability incentives for each dwelling and waterwise landscaping.

“Hesperia is committed to creating communities and a legacy that we can be proud of,” Judd said.

“On this project we worked with a team of consultants that believe in pushing the envelope and doing development differently.”

Thank you to the UDIA for recognition of the initiatives in place at Rivermark and to all of those involved in this project.
