ROE recognised by WA Property Council

Hesperia was recently awarded Best Industrial Development and Best Sustainable Development for its Roe Highway Logistics Park (ROE) development at the 2021 WA Property Awards.

In addition to the 2021 UDIA Environmental Excellence award, ROE continues to gain recognition for its industry leading sustainability initiatives, including a working goal of carbon neutrality.

Incorporating cutting edge innovation, with initiatives in low embodied carbon concrete, solar power, energy optimisation strategies and Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoo conservation, ROE reflects Hesperia’s commitment to create a new benchmark for sustainability in development.

ROE will soon house the state’s first 6-star Green Star accredited industrial facility and is also the first industrial estate to attract investment from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, with a landmark $95 million investment to further the projects’ sustainability initiatives.

The project team collaborated with Boral over a period of 18 months to develop a reduced carbon emission concrete that was appropriate for Western Australian conditions and utilised WA’s raw materials. The refined ENVISIA mix reduces emissions by up to 42 per cent in comparison to traditional concrete.

Other environmental initiatives at ROE include onsite water recycling, 2MW of solar PV generation, grid-friendly technology including smart inverters and metering, power factor correction and voltage control, and the use of energy efficient lighting where possible.

Thank you to the Property Council of Western Australia for recognition of the initiatives in place at ROE and to all of those involved in this project.
